Service Descriptions: What’s Included?

B&W Paperback Publishing (5.5 x 8.5, 6 x 9, 8.5 x 11) BookLogix’s standard paperback books are of the highest production quality and are printed on-site at our facility unless being sold through our global distribution partner. Our standard paperback is perfect bound and offered in three different sizes: 5.5 x 8.5, 6 x 9, and 8.5 x 11. Printed in black and white and grayscale halftones only and on a standard 50lb white or cream paper stock. Covers are printed on a standard white cover stock with your choice of matte or gloss lamination.
Standard eBook Publishing (ePub) BookLogix will convert your final PDF book file to an ePub file that is compatible with the three major eReader devices (Kindle, iPad/iPhone, Nook). This includes adjusting the print version layout for device compatibility, eBook proofing, and inclusion of an eISBN. You own all converted files!

It is important to note that eBook files are not meant to look exactly like a printed book; they are meant to be a digital-device compatible version of the book. Changes may be required in the manuscript before eBook conversion can begin. Fixed eBook formats are not eligible with purchase of a package but can be added on for additional costs.

Copyediting (Proofreading) A copyedit (proofread) is recommended for books that are relatively clean but require basic editing to ensure that the writing is free of typographical errors. Copyediting (proofreading) will correct  misspellings and punctuation errors and ensure consistency in spelling, hyphenation, numerals, fonts, and capitalization. Wording changes and fact-checking are not covered in a copyedit/proofread. Limit of 85K words. Addtl fees will apply for higher word counts.
Cover Copy Polish BookLogix will review the book summary used on your book’s back cover and your online listings and make suggestions/edits to help create captivating cover text that is appropriate for your genre and appeals to your target audience. You must provide written cover copy. Cover copy polish doesn’t include any rewriting. Writing or rewriting of cover copy is available for additional fees.
Book Cover Assembly BookLogix’s cover assembly allows you to provide BookLogix with separated cover elements. BookLogix will then create a completed cover design with the provided elements. Includes the creation of a spine if needed.
Book Cover Design – Standard BookLogix’s standard cover design includes 1 initial cover concept. BookLogix will discuss the design of your cover with you, deciding upon a direction for the cover design. Graphically designed covers include royalty-free stock images, fonts, and any images/headshots provided by you for use on the cover.
Book Cover Design – Advanced BookLogix’s advanced cover design includes up to 2 initial cover concepts. BookLogix will discuss the design of your cover with you, deciding upon a direction for the cover design. Graphically designed covers include royalty-free stock images, fonts, and any images/headshots provided by you for use on the cover.
Book Cover Design – Premium BookLogix’s premium cover design includes up to 3 initial cover concepts. BookLogix will discuss the design of your cover with you, deciding upon a direction for the cover design. Graphically designed covers include royalty-free stock images, fonts, and any images/headshots provided by you for use on the cover.
Layout Clean Up BookLogix’s layout clean up service is for manuscripts that have already been formatted. Manuscripts should already be sized for printing, with chapter title locations, font choices and sizes, line spacing, and graphics already in place. This service includes having a designer make corrections and adjustments to margins, headers, page numbers, and where pages fall according to industry standards. This service does not include adding any additional content, graphics, or other design elements.
Book Interior Formatting/Design – 2 Samples The interior book layout will format and design the text and graphics to fit the appropriate genre for a printed book. BookLogix will set up the front matter, body content, and back matter per Chicago Manual of Style standards. BookLogix will supply 2 sample book layouts for you to choose from for the look and feel of your book. Samples are pre-designed with placeholder text. Changes to samples are available for additional fees.
Book Interior Formatting/Design – 3 Samples The interior book layout will format and design the text and graphics to fit the appropriate genre for a printed book. BookLogix will set up the front matter, body content, and back matter per Chicago Manual of Style standards. BookLogix will supply 3 sample book layouts for you to choose from for the look and feel of your book. Samples are pre-designed with placeholder text. Changes to samples are available for additional fees.
Book Interior Formatting/Design – Custom Layout Sample The interior book layout will format and design the text and graphics to fit the appropriate genre for a printed book. BookLogix will set up the front matter, body content, and back matter per Chicago Manual of Style standards. BookLogix will create a custom layout sample using your text and design elements. BookLogix will discuss with you how you want the inside of your book to look. One round of revisions to the sample based upon your feedback is included. Further modifications are subject to additional fees.
Graphics Graphics help your book come to life. Photos, tables, charts, diagrams, drawings, and anything else that is not text is considered a graphic. Each package includes a predetermined number of graphics. If you wish to add more graphics you may do so for $5.00/image. All graphics provided must be in PDF, jpeg, png, or tiff formats. Don’t have a digital file for that photo you want to include? BookLogix can scan and convert the image for you for $5.00/image. Photos or artwork cannot exceed 11 x 17 if being scanned. All graphics that need to be inserted in the book must have text placeholders indicating where the graphic(s) are to be placed. All graphics are produced and printed in black and white.
Physical Softcover Proof BookLogix will provide you with a physical, bound softcover proof for you to review prior to going to production. You may pick up the proof or have it shipped to you.
Complimentary Round of Revisions One round of complimentary revisions is included after you have reviewed the proof. All revisions must be submitted in writing for review. Revision rounds include both interior and cover revisions. Requested revisions beyond the complimentary round are subject to additional billing at $100/hour. Once changes are submitted, they will be reviewed to determine if they are billable or not.
Paperback Copies Once your book is ready to print, BookLogix will print the allotted number of paperback copies included in your package. You may choose to pick up the books or have them shipped via UPS.
Book Order Volume Discounts All packages include volume discounts per book based on the total number of books being ordered, so the more you print, the more you save!
ISBN Assignment (Barcode Included) The ISBN is a number used internationally by publishers, retailers, and distributors to identify each format of your book. Each number is unique, so no other book or product can be associated with it. BookLogix will assign an ISBN for each format of the book where applicable. All package ISBNs will list BookLogix as the official publisher of record.
Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN) BookLogix will register the book with the Library of Congress Catalog, allowing public library systems to look up information on your book to identify the publisher should they become interested in ordering the book. The LCCN registration does not guarantee libraries will order or carry the book.
US Copyright Filing BookLogix will act on behalf of the author to complete all necessary applications with the copyright office and make sure the copyright page of the book lists all necessary information. A copyright certificate will be mailed directly to you by the copyright office.
Online Print Book Selling through Amazon and Author Website BookLogix will list your book for sale through Amazon and your own website (if applicable). Royalties are paid once a quarter for each copy sold*. BookLogix will handle all customer service for buyers.
Online Print Book Selling through Global Distribution BookLogix will set your book up with our global distribution partner, making your book available online and for physical retailers to order. The book will be listed on Amazon, BarnesandNoble.com, and may be made available on other retailer sites at their sole discretion. Royalties are paid once a quarter for each copy sold*. All titles are printed on demand by our global distribution partner.
Online eBook Selling through Amazon, Apple iTunes, and Barnes & Noble BookLogix will list your eBook for sale through Amazon, Apple Books, and BarnesandNoble.com. Royalties are paid once a quarter for each copy sold*.
Marketing Consultation BookLogix will provide a one-hour consultation with you to discuss recommended marketing activities. This is a good opportunity for you to ask BookLogix about any marketing strategies you plan to use for the promotion of your book.
Access to Educational Webinars BookLogix has a library of recorded webinars as well as live webinars offered on a weekly basis to help educate you on the world of publishing. You will have access to recordings of past sessions as well as upcoming live webinar sessions to learn more about critical parts of the publishing process and key advice on producing a better product and increasing the potential success of your book.
Metadata Optimization BookLogix will assist you with optimizing the information about your book that librarians, booksellers, and readers see when searching for a title online or in distribution databases. Metadata includes information such as keywords, BISAC categories, retailer-specific categories, retail pricing, book synopsis, author biography, and more.
Media Kit Template A Media Kit is an important part of pitching your book to bookstores and organizations looking to schedule speakers, podcasters, traditional media, and more. It includes a Press Release, Selling Sheet, bio sheet on you, and an FAQs sheet. BookLogix will provide you with a template to guide you in crafting a Media Kit that can be used as a digital download on your website or printed.
Author Spotlight BookLogix will craft and post an announcement about your book’s release. The post will feature your book cover, book summary, and a link to purchase.
Amazon Look Inside the Book Look Inside the Book allows readers to search through and preview a sample of your book. Maximum of 20% of the interior of the book will be displayed.
Professional Book Review BookLogix will obtain a professional book review for you from Midwest Book Review. Wording from the review can be used in the marketing/promotion of your book, added to online listings, and more. BookLogix cannot guarantee a positive book review.
Global Distribution Ad BookLogix will place an ad for your book in Ingram’s monthly “Discover Emerging Books” list on Ingram’s retail ordering platform. The list lives on the home page of the ordering platform and is promoted in 3 bookseller and library newsletters. Your book must be set up with our global distribution partner.
Press Release or Selling Sheet You will have the choice of BookLogix crafting a Press Release or a Selling Sheet to promote your book. A Press Release is a written announcement to media announcing the release of the book and contains information about the content of your book, your bio, as well as announcing the release date and/or any events you may have. A Selling Sheet is a tool used when pitching your book to retailers and contains information about the content of your book, a brief bio, and important data a bookstore needs when deciding whether or not they want to order your book. A Press Release and a Selling Sheet are components of a Media Kit, and you can use the sheet we create as part of your overall Media Kit.
Promotional eBook Campaign BookLogix will coordinate an online book promotion campaign for your eBook with FreeBooksy or BargainBooksy. BookLogix will discuss with you which campaign is better suited for your book and needs.
